Sam Rae explores a curious relationship between the electric guitar, voice and cello. She brings her classical degree in cello performance into the modern era of music with ethereal and intricately improvised cello pieces that weave in between songs of heavy folk on the electric electric guitar with strong and simple vocals inspired by Gillian Welch, Susan Tedeschi and Brandi Carlile. Sam Rae tours as a solo artist and also in collaboration with illustrious folk singer Gregory Alan Isakov and Brandi Carlile.

Paired with her endeavors touring she also has recorded on more than a dozen folk albums with 2 of her own, 2013 and 2017. She has performed at red rocks twice, both with Gregory and Elephant Revival, and is currently on the road with Brandi Carlile to release her new album, By the Way I Forgive You, taking her to venues throughout the country including the stage of Stephen Colbert and Ellen DeGeneres. Although she finds momentum in collaboration Sam Rae thrives from her ability to capture an audience as a solo artist with her rapturous experiments bonding the voice, cello and guitar.
